The history behind, and Vision for the future of Xplex

The XPLEX Extreme Competition Park was the brainchild of Glynn Barber with the help of his teenage son, Cameron. The idea was initially brought about for several reasons. The obvious boost to the Jay County economy was the major driving force behind Barber's decision to pursue the vision of XPLEX. The idea of year round family friendly recreation was welcomed with open arms from the people and local business owners in Portland and surrounding areas.

After meticulous planning and long hours by our staff, opening event weekend became a reality at XPLEX. May 14th brought Platinum selling Wind-Up Records recording artist Drowning Pool to the first of what is sure to be many successful concert events. May 15th brought our first AMA District 15 Sanctioned Motocross Race to our newly constructed, highly acclaimed 1.5 mile Motocross track. The spectator support and turnout for both events far exceeded our expectations, as well as post event comments.

As for the rest of the inaugural season here at XPLEX, we will be host to a minimum of 5 more confirmed AMA Motocross races. Construction is currently under way of a man made UROC (www.UROC.com) course. XPLEX will be host to 2 weekend National UROC events to be broadcast on both ESPN and OLN (Outdoor Life Network). Our UROC track will carry the title of the East Coast National Track, drawing up to 100,000 people per event. Both indoor and outdoor paintball facilities are currently being constructed and will play host to 2 State Paintball Tournaments later this year, with National tournaments already being scheduled for the 2006 season.

With new events and construction a constant here at XPLEX, one of the major future additions will be a 150,000 square foot indoor arena which will play host to an endless array of events, including indoor motocross, rodeos, trade shows, conventions, etc. Other future endeavors include an oval dirt track, RC car and boat tracks, Snowmobile watercross and a camping area, just to name a few.

Our staff here at XPLEX will continue to bring you the very best in national and international Extreme Sports Entertainment.
